In 2020, a year that has seen the closure of small and medium-sized art galleries, Elisa Bonzano and Enrico Angelino wanted to challenge everything and everyone by opening their Tempesta Gallery, with the aim of creating a place where to create a dialogue on the relationship between man and nature. To start this dialogue are always the works of well selected national and international artists such as Alma Heikkilä. 

On Thursday, March 24, on the occasion of Art Week 2022, the Finnish artist will present her latest investigation that starts from nature, crosses living beings, the human body and finally focuses on what we cannot see. 

Alma Heikkilä draws inspiration from everything that happens below the surface: it may be under the fertile soil of the forest, but also inside our bodies, in our tissues and organs. In order to show these invisible mechanisms, the artist uses her art as if it were a microscope and enlarges that world invisible to the eye which, however, leaves a trace in reality and conditions everyday life. 

The exhibition will show the evolution of the artist’s thought that will end with a reflection on the human condition, on the transience within a biosphere consisting of symbiotic interdependencies, between organic and inorganic, mold and stone, life and time, food and secretion. 

Alma Heikkilä’s work will be on view at Tempesta Gallery from March 24 through May 31, 2022.
