Amirhosein Esparham, an Iranian born in 1996, impressed the jury of Unpublished Photo (UP)—the international photography competition—with his project Together, Alone, a work that delves into the widespread loneliness in his home country, Iran. This theme remains at the heart of his series, prompting us to reflect deeply through impactful shots that convey a profound emotion, often intentionally overlooked but one that eventually knocks at everyone’s door.
The images, crafted with remarkable mastery of light and staging, portray friends and acquaintances in a sequence of shots that reveal their fears and vulnerabilities, making the theme of loneliness universally relatable.
The Fondazione culture e musei (FCM) and the Museo delle Culture di Lugano (MUSEC) recently announced the winners of the 2024 edition of Unpublished Photo (UP), an international competition created to promote new trends in art photography among young talents from around the world. Originally conceived by the Milanese gallery 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS, the award has become a key event in the international art scene, supported by FCM and MUSEC since 2020. This year’s edition saw the participation of over 200 photographers, aged between 18 and 30, from 35 countries.
