A$AP Rocky Dresses Too Well

We’ve all seen the campaign photos signed by Bottega Veneta on A$AP Rocky‘s Instagram profile – now not only a style icon but also a reference point in the world of hip-hop. These are not shots taken by a fashion photographer but rather images captured by a paparazzo. Considering the similar shots of Kendall Jenner, the result is a perfect blend of celebrity culture and style. In essence, Bottega Veneta has chosen the perfect ambassadors for this campaign. Both A$AP and Kendall are portrayed in activities that could belong to anyone’s daily life, such as jogging or walking the dog. But why does this campaign work so well? In our opinion, A$AP Rocky deserves partial credit. Let’s delve a bit more into his style and his association with fashion houses over the past decade.

The images from Bottega Veneta’s new campaign are licensed from Getty and Backgrid – two of the most popular databases in the paparazzi world. The result is nothing but street-style shots with a striking effect, a reality built on the shoulders of celebrity culture. Rocky himself mentions this in the caption of the images he shares on his profile. «[…] there has always been an funny relationship between photographers and celebrities.»

Gucci, Dior, Balenciaga, and Loewe are just a few of the brands that A$AP Rocky has worn over the years. According to GQ, he is one of the best-dressed artists alongside Harry Styles. His wardrobe seems versatile, able to adapt to any occasion: from the MET Gala to the pregnancy announcement made with his partner, Rihanna.

His secret seems to be a desire to subvert the rules of men’s dressing, not being afraid to take risks with bold style choices. From denim-on-denim to pearl necklaces and all kinds of jewelry. His style evolution and the confidence with which he wears both emerging brands and fashion giants seem to be the key to the success of the latest photos taken for Bottega Veneta, which went viral upon their release. In short, A$AP Rocky, in our opinion, is the style icon of 2023 as we await to see what he will wear and which fashion houses he will collaborate with in the coming year.
