Open Sound Festival launches a call for music producers

Open Sound Festival starts from the encounter between contemporary electronic music and ancestral sounds and, in line with its identity, launches #OSA 2020, the call in collaboration with Sugar Music open to producers who want to experiment and “dare” to co-create new sound visions inspired by the concept of the remote future.

The challenge consists in giving new life to ancient sounds in an electronic key by creating a new track from a repertoire of open source, non-proprietary sounds belonging to the ancient Lucanian heritage (arbëreshë polyphonic choirs, bagpipes, cowbells, dark dark).

These cataloged sounds are collected in the Open Sound Library (#OSL), developed during the experience of Matera European Capital of Culture 2019.

The jury of the paleo-futurist festival, led by Alioscia Bisceglia, Open Sound Festival’s Artistic Director, will select 9 candidates, who will have access to the first phase. Among the 9, the 3 producers considered most suitable to continue in the next stages of co-creation, and co-production of a final suite alongside the guest producers 2020 will be chosen: Clap!Clap!, Yakamoto Kotzuga and Stabber.

The OSA Suite, final performance of Open Sound Festival will be presented live in September, in the suggestive setting of the Terrace of Palazzo Lanfranchi in Matera.

The international call is open to all young people from 18 to 35 years old, if you are one of them and you want to put your composition on the line by August 2nd HERE and cross your fingers!
