In 1999, Chloë Sevigny portrayed Lana Tisdel in Boys Don’t Cry, an iconic film directed by Kimberly Pierce. However, the legend of this actress was born on Tumblr, one of the most popular social platforms of the past decade. Her face is one of the most recognizable among pop culture enthusiasts, thanks in part to her appearance in Kids in 1995, as well as her roles in Will & Grace and more recently in American Horror Story and Bones and All. Time has passed since then, but Chloë Sevigny’s charm remains undiminished. Today, her new collaboration with Fucking Awesome is released, opening up a new avenue for women’s streetwear in the world of skateboarding. In short, Chloë Sevigny is the icon we deserve, now also in the realm of streetwear.

How the Skateboard Collaboration with Fucking Awesome Came About
The story of this collaboration dates back to the early 2000s when a photo of Chloë Sevigny in her middle school yearbook went viral, showing a very young girl with very short hair and a choker necklace. This image caught the attention of Fucking Awesome back in 2014 when the skateboard brand customized a limited quantity of boards with this now-famous photo, all set against a bubble pink background. Now, almost 10 years later, a collaboration is born that combines pleated miniskirts and skater influences with a touch of preppy style. It’s an irresistible mix that reflects much of Chloë Sevigny’s personality without going overboard.

This isn’t the first time Sevigny has designed collections with brands of this kind, starting with Supreme and extending to Opening Ceremony. Notably, the Fucking Awesome skateboards that were sold on eBay in 2014 have become cult objects and are being relaunched alongside this collaboration with the actress.

Not Your Typical Collab
The collection will be launched today on the Fucking Awesome website, offering not only women’s wear but also to anyone who wants to wear these pieces with a preppy and somewhat Tumblr-inspired flavor. But this collaboration seems to be different from all the others we see out there. It’s part of an even more intriguing story that began with a limited series of skateboard decks that are now making a comeback, and we’re sure they will sell out in a matter of hours.
