By now you may have understood how much we like to talk about artistic projects, bigger or smaller, that combine different disciplines. Atelier Kismet is certainly one of them and we couldn’t not talk about it.
Atelier Kismet is a new reality that produces series of artists’ ceramics made entirely in Italy. Several national and international artists will collaborate with the artisans of an Italian family that boasts three generations of professional ceramists to create design products halfway between everyday objects and works of art.
The first artist to collaborate with Atelier Kismet is none other than D*Face, stage name of Dean Stockton, one of the most interesting and well-known artists in the world. For this collaboration, Atelier Kismet’s craftsmen have based their work on one of the London artist’s historical artworks.
It was 2006 when D*Face inaugurated, at the StolenSpace Gallery in London – of which he is founder – his first solo exhibition entitled “Death & Glory”. In addition to the artwork on display, for the occasion the artist ventured into his first large-scale work: a life-size sculpture with a D*Dog – the protagonist of his art – crashed on a police car.
It is from this work that Atelier Kismet has taken inspiration, transforming it into an incense holder bearing the name “Death & Glory”. This new and unique completely handmade design object will be produced in a limited run of only 75 pieces that will be available for purchase online starting Thursday, May 6.
