Greek mythology is still an inexhaustible source of inspiration thanks to its characters and themes treated in such a universal way that they remain relevant even after millennia. The character of Chiron for example was instrumental in defining @disegniconsapevoli‘s new project, a capsule collection that will be presented on Sunday, June 19, in Milan’s Via Lanzone.
The page project-and now its wearable version-began as a “healing” journey undertaken by founder Marika Zaramella, when a year ago she sought therapy to resolve the complicated relationship she had with herself and others. The illustrations were a tool to vent intimate thoughts and for a long time they remained private, until precisely when the @drawingsconscious project was born.
The myth of Chiron has much to do with the artist’s story, the minotaur of Greek tradition in fact healed himself and others through vulnerability and self-control, cultivating a spiritual strength precisely through compassion for others and acceptance of shared pain. From that moment Chiron devoted his life to healing illnesses of others’ bodies and souls.
The collection was created in collaboration with Italian brand Boredom Ravers and consists of a long-sleeved T-shirt, a t-shirt, a tote bag, and a slip and tank top ensemble. On the garments, made from reclaimed fabrics, are illustrations by the artist, who opens up about important issues such as mental health through an intimate project that looks everyone in the eye.
