Perfumes and smells have an extraordinary power because they can bring out hidden memories of our mind capable of transporting us to other places in the blink of an eye.
This evocative power is very important at this time because, locked up at home, we can do nothing but use our imagination to travel to other places.
If you’ve been working from home for over a year now, you may have noticed that any memory of the workplace can become a nostalgic moment filled with melancholy.
It’s this exact sentiment that the creative directors of New York-based agency R/GA have tapped into for a hilarious new project called Eau D’Office, a hilarious invention designed to bring a piece of the office into every employee’s home.
Eau D’Office is a set of 6 scented candles made to bring employees back to the now forgotten atmosphere of work. Each candle recreates a specific office scent and recalls a unique situation that R/GA employees used to experience.
The selected smells are of all kinds, from the most inviting and familiar to the most unpleasant and less appealing: “Warm 96-Page Deck Left on the Printer“, “Room 12F.1 After a 6-Hour Workshop“, “Breakfast Leftovers in Edit Suite 1“, “Afternoon Rush at the Coffee Bar“, “Sushi Thursday at the Cafe” and “Thursday Happy Hour on a High Table“.
This candle set plays on the contrast between sophistication and irony and was originally created as a farewell gift to two R/GA New York employees. After an unexpected success, however, the Eau D’Office were made available to all other colleagues at the agency, but only by special request.
