Forget dolphins, schools of fish swimming happily in the sea, forget the underwater worlds of Nemo and the Little Mermaid. The imagery of a group of French students of 3D animation is much more drastic and pessimistic. Hybrid is the animated short film that five graduates of the Ecole MoPA – Motion Picture in Arles have presented as a project at the end of the course and which has won awards at numerous international festivals.

The subject could not be more current, the pollution of the seas and oceans. The original aspect is given from the point of view, which is not that of man, as often happens, but that of nature. The idea behind the project was to think about how animals could use pollution to improve their defense mechanisms.

The protagonists of Hybrid are precisely hybrid monsters, half animals and half waste fighting for survival on the bottom of the ocean.
