Surreal atmospheres and bizarre subjects, this is what we find in Julia Buruleva‘s shots.
Julia Buruleva is a Russian photographer who, after graduating in Fine Arts in St Petersburg and working for years as a fashion photographer, moved to Barcelona, where she now lives and works, and completely changed her subjects and style.
Her work is inspired by two elements in particular: on the one hand, by what surrounds her and what she sees every day, and on the other, by the warm light of the Spanish city.
Julia adds a pinch of absurdity to all this, resulting in surreal photographs that disorient and fascinate the viewer. In fact, this is exactly what she wants to achieve with her work: to fascinate the viewer without asking too many questions.
One of the projects that best represents this mix of elements is undoubtedly the one entitled Beach is a new theatre in which we see nude models lying on red chairs on the beach. Here the inspiration came when he first saw the red seats of the Barcelona Opera House and working with her imagination she visualised them far from their context, creating images bordering on the absurd that we cannot stop looking at.

Another important recurring element in her artistic production is the nude: the human body is in no way sexualised and is not used to provoke, but is conceived as an element that often seems to merge with the landscape, becoming an integral part of it.
