At the beginning of December, between an advent calendar and a gift to wrap, we look forward to the Immaculate Conception week-end for our tour out of town leads us to discover the Dolomites landscapes.
We don’t have a very precise goal because it’s well known that the best stuff is always the unexpected one.
The only certainty is our New Discovery, which will allow us to face all the weather conditions, and we will need it because the weather forecast promises long snowfalls.
It’s Friday morning when we leave for Molina di Fiemme, where our accommodation is located.
Once arrived, we decide to lose ourselves on the paths and let ourselves be guided by the magic of snow-covered and candid landscapes.
Our attention is immediately captured by the Fiemme Castle, which stands on a rock and is wrapped in a veil of fog, and seems to dominate everything else.
The village lights start to light up, we go back on our New Discovery and we head for Moena, a typical town in Trentino where you can enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, and eat a good strudel, or a good slice of Sacher accompanied by a warm apple juice.
A little cold we run home and look at the window of our room, the snowflakes begin to fall down.
The next morning, after a rich breakfast prepared with love by B&B Casa Ritz, we let ourselves be advised by the people of the place and we add a new stop to our program: Val Cadino, made of beautiful tree-lined paths and farmsteads where the wood is still cut by hand, raspberries are sold and the pasta is fresh like the one of the past.
We continue towards Tires, along the way a quick break to Lake Carezza that, unlike from our last summer visit, we find completely covered with snow, and then up towards the -12 degrees to admire the Torri del Vajolet of the Catinaccio group.
In San Cipriano we stop to eat the dumplings to warm up and refresh ourselves after an intense day.
Last day, before returning to Milan, we decided to face the storm and pass through S. Martino di Castrozza and Passo Rolle, hoping to see the Pale di S. Martino. But the fog and snow obviously cover them, and we return home with the desire to be able to come back as soon as possible!
