After the great success of Call me by your Name, Luca Guadagino directs the remake of Dario Argento’s Suspiria. A very dangerous operation if we consider the great impact Suspiria had in 1977 when it was released to cinemas.
For those of you who don’t know Suspiria, is a film addressing witchcraft and mystery in a very specific aesthetic style: the red color invaded every single frame of the film, drowning the viewer in specific occult dimension.
But was a remake of Suspiria really needed? Here is Guadagnino’s reply:
In a way it makes me smile when people say, How dare you remake Suspiria? That is a typical commercially-driven mentality, he continues. When I saw the movie I was just a boy, and I was really attracted by this film. So that’s how I am approaching it: as a homage to the incredible, powerful emotion I felt when I saw it.
So we have to wait and see what happens, but in the meantime, I suggest you to all view the original film from the master of the horror.
The pictures and the trailer here are from the Argento’s movie.
