The work of photographer Martin Andersen portrays with great irony the world of Tottenham Hotspur fans. The project took time, so as to have an authentic point of view:
I wanted to get closer to the people I was photographing. One thing is being a football fan, another is to be part of the different groups of people you are actually photographing.
There are epic scenes, strongly expressive British faces, you can almost feel the adrenaline of the feeling that unites the fans, explosive and unstoppable. At first, Martin started with a camera in his hand, capturing the atmosphere in the street and pubs during the games. After three years, however, he really realized what he was doing: he was beginning to document a piece of history: the last seasons at White Hart Lane in June 2017, before the club was demolished to rebuild a new stadium, which is now what could be called “more commercial” and, of course, much larger.
I wanted to celebrate our fans – the unsung heroes of our club. The fans never switch alliances, they are here forever and I felt that it needed to be documented and celebrated. It seemed appropriate to me to put it in a book to underline the occasion – I decided that our last game at White
Hard Lane should be theend point of this project.
