After the success of the past editions, Milano Arch Week returns this year from May 21 to 26, 2019. Not only Design Week in the city but also a really amazing program to promote architecture and to speak about today’s urban challenges and the future of cities.

Under the artistic direction of Stefano Boeri, the Milano Arch Week consists in a program of lectures by architects, designers, international scientists, emerging architects, urban planners, landscapers, public personalities, and opinion leaders as Rem Koolhaas, Shigeru Ban, Paola Antonelli, Andrea Branzi, Fala Atelier, Kosmos and many many more. Not only lectures but it will be expanded with meetings, book presentations, performances, musical evenings, walks, bike rides urban tours on a Vespa to discover the city from new points of view.

This year title is ‘Anthropocene and Architecture’ in connection with the themes of the XXII Triennale di Milano Broken Nature: Design Takes on Human Survival, curated by Paola Antonelli. So is all about sustainability, technological development, migration flows, and social transformations in the city framework: Milano Arch Week will investigate cities as systems of flows and networks, artifice and nature, as places continually shaped by a “contemporary plurality of subjects, individuals, and trajectories”, and as centers of material and immaterial production.

During the Milano Arch Week – on May 24 and 25 – the Order of Architects of Milan organized Open! Studi Aperti, Dozens of architecture firms open their doors to the public for advice and information, with exhibitions, cocktails, screenings, and events, showing how the architect’s toolbox works.
