Imagine a Rimowa suitcase with its wheels removed, rolling off the airport tracks and into your living room. That’s exactly the move: just yesterday Rimowa announced its first furniture collection in collaboration with Vitra at Art Basel.

The collection includes a stool and a toolbox, both crafted from aluminum and featuring the iconic grooved texture that made the brand’s suitcases legendary. The release is limited: 1,000 stools and just 100 toolboxes, explicitly designed as collectibles.
Industrial minimalism and comfort have never been more compatible. The “Stool” is built from Rimowa’s signature grooved aluminum but leaves the terminals behind to step into the most stylish living rooms. It has the compact size of a carry-on suitcase, with a cushioned top covered in soft-toned Vitra fabrics, made to seamlessly blend into sophisticated interiors.
What’s surprising is its dual identity: on one hand, it’s a comfortable and stable seat; on the other, it retains its handles and wheels — as if to suggest that design, like us, doesn’t like standing still. A piece to use, move around, and admire. Available in four color variants, each item is numbered and — as mentioned above — limited to 1,000 units. In short, not just a style exercise, but a true collector’s item.
