ROA’s urban animals arrive at the University of Gent

Street artist ROA has just completed his latest work on the facade of GUM (Gent University Museum) in Belgium.
The university and museum will “frame” his beautiful pile of skeletons, including an elephant, rhino, grizzly bear and okapi.

Very little is known about him, but one thing is well known: as a child, the Belgian street artist ROA wanted to be an archaeologist and went to the countryside to collect small skulls of birds and rodents that he then enjoyed drawing.

Animals are in fact his real obsession, a recurring theme in his works. They are undoubtedly his main source of inspiration, he chooses animals according to their location.

In his graffiti he combines life, death and life after death. Alongside the dominant shades of grey in his works, he places only the red that emerges from the open, bleeding wounds of these large animals.

This project was carried out in collaboration with the guys from Wallin‘ and was realized for the second part of the opening of the Museum of the University of Ghent.
