Founded in 2008 in Via Serbelloni in Rome, Wunderkammern is now ready to open the doors of its second exhibition space in the capital, in Via Giulia, one of the city’s most central streets.
Over the years, the gallery, which has become a real point of reference for street art and urban art in Italy, has hosted some of the most important and influential contemporary artists in Rome and Milan. 

Continuing in this vein, the gallery in Via Giulia will be inaugurated by none other than Shepard Fairey aka OBEY GIANT.
From Saturday 29 January, the Wunderkammern will host an exhibition entitled “Strategies for a Revolution” by the American artist. 

Born in 1970, Shepard Fairey is one of the key artists in the history of street art and poster art. He is best known for his “HOPE” poster of Obama, created for his first presidential campaign. But throughout his career he has created many works that have gone viral and have become symbols of political struggles, such as the TIME cover designed just over a year ago for the US presidential election won by Joe Biden. 

The works exhibited at the Wunderkammern will follow one of the themes most analysed and addressed by the artist, that of power which is represented from many different points of view, forcing the spectator to reflect and take a position. 

Exhibition curator Giuseppe Pizzuto commented: “With his exhibition ‘Strategies for a revolution’ Shepard aims to overwhelm the viewer with his imagery and his ironic, propagandistic, iconic language. (…) The energy that is released by the images created by Shepard, no matter how many times we have the impression that we have “seen them before”, is always surprising.“

Shepard Fairey’s “Strategies for a Revolution” will be on view from 29 January to 22 February. Afterwards, given the great success of the Milan venue, the Wunderkammern in Via Giulia will host Vibrations by the American street artist JonOne.
