Shusaku Takaoka and his surreal digital collages
Characters from fairy tales, paintings, frescoes, but also VIPs, brands, and supermodels. Shusaku Takaoka blends profane and sacred, worldly and classic.
Shusaku Takaoka is a Japanese graphic designer who in his free time, through his Instagram profile @shusaku1977, enjoys upsetting everything we know.
Shusaku doesn’t save anything, sacred images, works of art, celebrities, politicians, cartoons, the Japanese artist takes all this, mixes it together and posts the result on the web.
His digital collages fascinate thousands and thousands of people because it’s fun to try to recognize the elements he used to create them because sometimes reality is boring and the version of Shusaku is much more stimulating, funny and surreal.
Let’s face it, as children, we liked Snow White’s kindness so much, but how fun it is to see her kiss Madonna, and we cheered vigorously for Cinderella, but seeing her with swollen eyes after spending the night watching Netflix brings her back to our level.
Even all the works of art that we studied and researched at school, how nice it is to see them desecrated and mixed with elements of today, whether they are model bodies or film sets?!
A glance at the works of Shusaku Takaoka will be enough to understand his genius.
