Energia Vitale: The Story of Vibram in a Short Film

-
Anna Frattini

The new short film directed by Achille Mauri and dedicated to the history of Vibram unfolds as a cinematic journey that weaves together memory, innovation, and landscape. The film revisits the figure of Vitale Bramani, mountaineer and inventor who in 1937 revolutionized mountain equipment with the creation of the first rubber sole for hiking boots, the iconic Vibram Carrarmato.

The narrative unfolds in chapters, alternating voices and perspectives that form an emotional and historical mosaic: contemporary climbers such as Barbara Zangerl, Matteo della Bordella, and Pietro Vidi bring back to life the historical routes opened by Bramani, creating a dialogue between the mountaineering of the past and that of today. Alongside them, the words of Colomba Fasana reconstruct the human and visionary dimension of the founder, while the poetry of Antonia Pozzi adds an intimate tone in which the mountain becomes an inner place as much as a physical one.

One of the most symbolic moments is the route taken by Matteo Bramani, Vitale’s great-grandson, who travels from the urban heart of the Duomo all the way to the Grignetta, turning the journey into a visual path made of continuity, roots, and above all, of future.

The short is guided by a vital narrative energy that unites natural and urban elements, history and present, people and places. More than explaining, it evokes: the feeling of a deep connection with the mountain, the drive toward innovation, and the desire to preserve and renew a legacy that continues to shape the world of mountaineering.
