Last Friday, was released via Asian Fake Musica da Camera, the first EP by DARRN, a brand new Roman collective composed of two producers, a singer and a graphic designer who combines analog instruments with electronic sounds, with a very particular aesthetic.

Their debut single, Yodel, was released at the beginning of the year and then they also took part in Frenetik&Orang3‘s Zerosei, collaborating on the track Verme.

Now that you know something more about them, it’s time to float in DARRN’s underwater melodies by listening to their EP consisting of the focus track Allen and the b-side F2. The first one is inspired by the NBA player Allen Iverson and is about the desire for change and its risks.
F2 stands for Fun & Frustration and is an extreme synthesis of their entire course of creation.

“We swear that it was not so easy to enclose in a playlist only a part of the songs that are more motivating us to make music in this period. In reality the most complex part was to find an order that we liked, which is the same thing that happens with our own tracks. Choosing the tracklist of our first EP (2 tracks) took us more time than we could imagine LOL. However, all the music we have chosen for the playlist follows a homogeneous scheme based on the union between sound design, chord progression and lyrics. I think we would have reached at least 60 tracks, but in the end we decided to throw in the ones we are consuming the most right now“.
