In February 2019, after 70 years of honored career, Volkswagen decided to end the production of the legendary Volkswagen Beetle.
To say goodbye to one of its most iconic and unforgettable models, the German car manufacturer has created a moving animated short film that traces the history of the car along with that of a young man.
Entitled “The Last Mile”, the short film traces all of the boy’s most important moments, from driving school alongside his father to lonely journeys, the arrival of love, the family and the departure of his children for university.
The short film ends with the car leaving in the middle of a festive crowd, including Andy Warhol, who included the Beetle in his 1985 Ads series and Ren McCormack aka Kevin Bacon, the protagonist of Footloose.
A heartfelt greeting made even more exciting by a cover of The Beatles’ “Let It Be” performed by a choir of very young voices.
