Originario dei Paesi Bassi, Amok Island vive in Australia ma ha lasciato i suoi murales in più di 25 paesi.
Lo street artist ama raffigurare la flora e la fauna dei paesi in cui viaggia.
Il suoi stile, coloratissimo ma molto minimale, sembra ricordare le più recenti tendenze che appartengono al graphic design anche se, il suo modo di utilizzare le forme geometriche per interpretare quelle degli animali e delle piante è una novità per l’attuale scena murale.

Amok racconta che se non fosse diventato un artista sarebbe stato un biologo infatti, le foto che utilizza per riprodurre fedelmente i suoi soggetti, le scatta lui stesso, qualunque sia la condizione.

The theme of natural exploration and conservation is a strong and constant undercurrent of Amok Island’s artistic practice. His lifelong fascination with nature and her relationships and history with mankind drive the artist’s obvious appreciation and obsession with his subjects and his urge to direct the attention of his audience to them.
