From Colombia to Miami, the city to which he moved at the age of 17, this is the physical path that photographer Juan Sebastian has taken in his life, easier to recount than his artistic journey, suspended between the ideal and the real, between myth and fantasy.
The series “The roar of the wind” allows us to enter fully into the photographer’s imagination, capturing some of his sources of inspiration, such as theatre and its musicality. Literature (that of Gabriel García Márquez and Isabel Allende in particular) also influences Sebastian’s shots, thanks to which he creates a narrative that follows a development that is not only physical but also mental. The study on the shapes of the human body is developed through the annulment of the silhouette, brought back to an extracted and recreated entity, precisely for this reason volatile and precarious, a concrete sensation thanks to the wind that moves large sheets of earth-coloured cloths.
What fills the frame is the musicality of the soul that the subjects give off, and that atmospheric sensation that leads one to feel the chill of the wind, or rather, its roar, on the skin.
