Have you ever seen a pastel pink Mercedes-Benz CLA with a rooftop tent and an integrated picnic table? Now you have, thanks to Gustaf Westman. The Swedish designer has reimagined the German sedan as a four-wheeled work of art, embracing the concept of “Camping and picnic with friends,” and blending playful aesthetics with a spirit of togetherness.

The collaboration also includes a limited-edition capsule collection: the Mercedes-Benz x Gustaf Westman Chunky Collection, featuring a license plate with the Mercedes star, a chunky picnic blanket, a pink rearview mirror, and a hot dog tray—all in the designer’s signature curvy, colorful style.

With this project, Mercedes-Benz continues its journey through design and pop culture, following collaborations with Virgil Abloh, A$AP Rocky, and Ice Spice—the latter being the face of the launch of the CLA Class of Creators program. Now, it’s Westman’s turn to take the baton, bringing a vision that perfectly reflects his design approach: playful, accessible, and optimistic.

As we wrote more than a year ago: «Westman looks to the Memphis Group and goes against the grain of Swedish minimalism. His pastel colors and playful shapes are soothing and easy to understand.» A philosophy that finds its natural extension on the road in the CLA: not just a car to drive, but an invitation to slow down and enjoy the moment.
