“House in coombe park” is a project by the architectural firm Edridge London. A dream private property, a perfect place to spend a quarantine without ever getting bored.
The owner of this property was an enthusiastic patron of contemporary architecture and encouraged the studio to design a building of his time in contrast to the fake classic villas in the neighborhood.

The project embraces the philosophy of the British architecture firm, in fact, they create and design site-specific buildings that respond to key landscape features but at the same time maintain a contemporary and innovative design. The house is in fact designed to adapt to the surrounding nature that hosts it and many elements of the construction are inspired by the slope of the hill and the many nearby oaks.

“House in coombe park” is divided into two floors, downstairs there are the master rooms and the kitchen, while upstairs there are other bedrooms, a gym, and a whirlpool area. A beautiful house with furnishings all finished in marble and exclusive oak floors. Eldridge London was also responsible for the landscaping and planting which includes a natural pond, also geometrically linked to the planimetric shape of the house. The garden is contained by a concrete wall that delimits its perimeter and in front of which tall hornbeams are planted, wrapping the site in a green curtain of foliage.

“House in coombe park” was awarded as “Large House of the Year” at the British Homes Awards 2017, and won the prestigious Manser Medal for Best House in the UK. The jury praised the project noting that the house was “beautifully designed and built, with immaculate details” and that “it is a house that cannot be ignored“.
