Pere Gifre is an artist specialized in the production of water-based art pieces, through a process related to the engineering of visual effects to which he has dedicated himself over the last 15 years. The technique used consists in transforming the natural movements of the water flow and chroming them in metal: thus waiting for a “lively” and dynamic effect, despite the rigid nature of the material.
His last work is an incredible installation and consists of an 80-foot waterfall that descends exactly in the center of the hotel VP Plaza España Hotel in Madrid. As soon as you enter the atrium below the 12th floor of the hotel, you immediately see the multi-level metallic drip that elegantly drops and “drains” from the glass pool.
The visual effects of light design complete the installation: lighting is skilfully projected onto the work, modifying the perception of the versatile silver sculpture, depending on the time of day.
