John Holcroft is a British illustrator who needs no introduction. Meritocracy has rewarded him, and he is already working for such British gentlemen’s newspapers as The Guardian and Financial Times.
What made him famous during his career was his satire that became known to the world through illustrations with a retro feel. A style that harkens back to the advertisements of beautiful 1950s America where women in aprons cooked immense turkeys to delight the mouths of the family. In John’s work, this touch meets modern society of vices and globalization, which John shows for what it really is, giving us a way to see ourselves through the peephole of a door.
He grew up in Lancashire, until his family decided to move to Yorkshire. So John began to find refuge in his drawings and collages. With a nurtured passion for Edward Hopper, Ian Pollock, and David Cutter, he attended college until he became a freelance illustrator in 1996. The years have passed, but Wolf has not lost the habit of wowing with his drawings.
