The world of Natalia Vico, colorful and melancholic

Giulia Guido

Colors, lights and shadows, dreamy places and melancholy faces, all this is mixed and completed in Natalia Vico‘s work.
Natalia Vico was born in Spain, where she studied advertising and design and where she started working as an art director at some communication agencies in Madrid. After some time, however, Natalia began to take a greater interest in the artistic side of her projects, dedicating less and less attention to the part related to communication. So at a certain point, she decided to escape from everything, from her work, from the computer and even from her city.

Today Natalia Vico lives and works in Annecy, a small village in the French Alps, she has completely abandoned digital art and is entirely dedicated to her personal projects without having to submit to marketing rules and guides dictated by clients.

Armed with brushes, colours, cards and canvases, Natalia Vico illustrates young girls and fruit of all kinds.

Yes, in her works there is never a natural element missing. Often this is a fruit, a melon, an orange, a lemon with vibrant colors, other times it is a floral composition that brings a breath of fresh air to the image.

Moreover, in Natalia Vico’s works, you can notice special attention to the light that, just like the one in Madrid, is warm and gently envelops everything.

In her compositions, one can finally notice a strange and disturbing atmosphere given by the contrast between the places she illustrates, the rooms skillfully furnished with designer furniture or the dreamy courtyards, with the faces of abandoned girls on sofas and armchairs, thoughtful and melancholic.
