After dealing with some serious controversies related to Tom Sachs‘ behavior toward his team and others, the collaboration between the artist and Nike is back in the spotlight. Officially announced last year, the return of the Mars Yard with the 3.0 version will take place in 2025, but we already have an exclusive look at the design of the new model. The new version doesn’t stray too far from its predecessors, maintaining the signature color combination that has defined earlier releases. The color palette, featuring off-white, golden brown, and red, appears with the same color-blocking scheme that fans of the collection are used to. However, there are some details that make this version special.

Among the most noticeable changes is a new black TPU toe cap, a distinctive feature represented by screen-printed Swooshes, and “Sail” details on the TPU heel and the natural rubber sole. Additionally, the front tab has been extended and now also functions as a lace stopper. Another significant modification is the eyestay, which is no longer a single piece but now consists of two separate parts. The sole design has been further refined with the introduction of polyurethane React foam, a carbon fiber plate, and a new texture in the center of the sole. The Mars Yard 3.0 also features oversized eyelets, an aged eyestay, ribbed polyester laces, an open polyester mesh upper, and a nylon strap at the heel, completing the changes Sachs envisioned. Both functionality and aesthetics have been optimized without sacrificing the practical spirit that has always characterized the model.

Although an official release date hasn’t been announced yet, Tom Sachs’ communication suggests that the Mars Yard 3.0 will be available starting in September 2025, with distribution on Nike SNKRS and select retailers, at a starting price of $275.
