Nike has decided to rewrite one of the most iconic mottos of all time. Just Do It, born in 1988 and turned into much more than an advertising tagline, now returns in a new light with the campaign Why Do It?. It’s a passing of the torch to today’s generation, increasingly anxious, no longer living sport as a solitary competition but as a shared ground where authenticity, collaboration, and courage matter more than the result.

The cinematic anthem that opens the campaign is a hymn to greatness understood as a choice, not as a finish line. Among the protagonists are Carlos Alcaraz, LeBron James, Rayssa Leal, Qinwen Zheng, Saquon Barkley, Caitlin Clark, and many other athletes who embody the tension of the present: trying and failing can be frightening, daring seems harder than ever, and yet the true victory lies in the first step.

From the eighty-year-old runner Walt Stack running across the Golden Gate Bridge in 1988 to “Dream Crazy” with Colin Kaepernick, every chapter of “Just Do It” has been an invitation to move, to keep going, to believe in yourself. Today, Why Do It? picks up that legacy and reinterprets it, speaking to those growing up in a world where pressure is overwhelming, but where every choice, every workout, and every comeback after a fall become acts of greatness.

The new film is not nostalgia, but an act of trust in the future: an encouragement to step onto the field, to make mistakes, to rise again. Because the real question is not “why do it?” but what happens if you don’t.
