PUMA has just announced a multi-year partnership with the Black Fives Foundation in support of Black History Education Reform, which will aim to highlight the work of Black leaders, partners and community organizations that inspire and shape the future of the next generation.
Throughout Black History Month (Feb. 1st – March 1st), PUMA will partner with athletes, ambassadors and partners by amplifying their voices and actions on a variety of platforms to support universal equality, justice in all its forms and acceptance.Â
To kick off the month, PUMA will partner with the Black Fives Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission since 2002 has been to research, preserve, showcase, teach and honor the pre-NBA history of African-American athletes in the world of basketball.
This partnership aims to raise awareness about this history and the players, teams and contributors through important initiatives, as well as presenting special apparel collections and sneakers featuring PUMA style with vintage graphics, logos and the foundation’s slogans such as “Make History Now”.
PUMA will help support efforts to preserve and publicize the Black Fives Foundation as much as possible through creative activations such as an online museum, the Virtual Vault, where an archive of historical documents, content and memorabilia from the Black Five era will be available for viewing.
The term Black Fives refers to the all-black basketball teams that thrived in the United States between 1904, when basketball opened up to African Americans on a large scale, and 1950, when the National Basketball Association officially integrated African American athletes.

The Virtual Vault will launch by the end of 2021 while, also during Black History Month, PUMA with the Harlem and AfroBrutality community will organize and host conversations with athletes and former champions focused on activism in sports through the #REFORM platform.
