After the viral success of the inflatable shoes presented during Paris Fashion Week at his Parisian home on Place du Palais-Bourbon for the Fall Winter 2024/2025 collection, Rick Owens is once again collaborating with Dr. Martens. Specifically, the Rick Owens x Dr. Martens capsule collection introduces one of the most innovative lines in the latest collection, featuring models equipped with the Beta Pack sole, unveiled last December. This collaboration also involves the participation of Sissy Misfit, a Turkish producer, performer, and DJ known for her hybrid musical identity that blends electronic, industrial, hardcore, and pop music. Her innovative sound and conceptual style make her the perfect ambassador for this collection dedicated to celebrating self-expression.
The launch
This launch is part of a series of curated collections exploring the sculptural potential of Dr. Martens’ silhouettes by combining the creativity of the American designer with the distinctive details of his collections. «I like to make our collaboration a powerful and creative celebration of self-expression, much like Sissy Misfit, who explodes techno by embracing a trans identity. Dr. Martens has always represented, for me, a subculture to draw inspiration from, and I enjoy honoring this tradition,» says Rick Owens on the occasion of the launch.
Rick Owens x Dr. Martens: 1460 DMXL Megalace Boot
These are the foundations of the new collection, and the silhouettes rest on the new DMXL sole, also introduced last December. Formed from a lightweight EVA base, the sole is a reinterpretation of Dr. Martens’ classic base, playing with volumes. The exaggerated heights of the 1460 DMXL Megalace boot come to life in the Dr. Martens x Rick Owens capsule. The shoe is crafted from Lunar leather, contrasting with the boot’s structure. Other details include silver loops, the Dr. Martens strap, and the unmistakable yellow stitching.
