Have you ever taken a bath at night? It doesn’t matter if it’s been at the beach, in a lake or in the river, but it always remains something that gives you the creeps. It may be a place where you spend every day, but at night it always seems different, more terrifying, just like in The Lake, the animated short film by the animation and illustration studio Gunner.

Not being able to see what is around us, while we are swimming in a lake or in a sea with black water, makes us think that there can be anything, a jellyfish, a shoal of fish, a shark. The more it splashes in the water, the more our imagination takes flight and that shark we imagined can become a giant animal or a monster.

The little protagonist of the short decides to dive into a lake, at midnight. There’s no one around him and there’s nothing in the lake. But what if he doesn’t?
