Wales Bonner presented “Togetherness”, his Fall/Winter 2022 collection.
The presentation was supposed to take place during Paris Fashion Week but things turned out differently. The brand founded by Grace Wales Bonner decided, like other brands, to avoid physical shows and leave the presentation of the collection to the digital world.
For the “Togetherness” collection Bonner was inspired by the work and life of American jazz trumpeter Don Cherry – he was co-leader of the Avant-Garde session with John Coltrane – and his wife, artist Moki Cherry, from whose union Eagle-Eye Cherry was born.
Their relationship was not only amorous, on the contrary, the two worked a lot together developing a sort of touring performance art that was obviously full of different influences.
Similarly, Wales Bonner’s FW22 is extremely varied and eclectic ranging from handcrafted knitwear to evening wear to technical sportswear.
Bonner explores her culture and then mixes and doses it carefully and tastefully to those that are the canons of contemporary luxury.

Per l’occasione il direttore cFor the occasion, creative director and multidisciplinary artist Steven Traylor, along with Bonner herself, shot a short film in Los Angeles titled “Hold”, which represents the meeting point of all the references and inspirations behind the collection.
As told by Bonner herself, “Togetherness” will also become a record label that will reissue archival music on vinyl that has not been digitized.
“It’s another physical outlet for what I do, because music is always around the starting point of my collections; it’s a way of extending my research practice, to give a musical context”, Bonner said in an interview with Vogue.
