Yves Klein is one of my favorite artists of post-war Western rt because of his irreverent and playful essence. His Blue will be on display at the Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire until 8 October 2018. The exhibition will be the most complete of Klein’s work in the UK to date and includes about fifty works exhibited in the traditional walls of the palace. The furnishings of the building are in fact a UNESCO World Heritage site, in particular, the crimson tapestries, the mahogany wood, and the golden gilded frames.

In the historic Great Hall, a blue powder pigment floor welcomes visitors in a reconstruction of the 1958 “Pure Blue Pigment”: the famous monochromatic 1961 painting in IKB, realized the year after Klein patented its color as “International Klein Blue”. It will be very interesting to admire the contrast between the mystical works of Klein with the traditional environment that distinguishes the structure.
