Who would have ever thought that Italo Calvino could one day inspire an installation in the heart of New York, precisely on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum? Yet that’s exactly how it is, Alex Da Corte has created “As Long as the Sun Lasts” that takes inspiration from one of Italo Calvino’s short stories, “Fino a che dura il sole”.

In this story, the famous Italian poet praises our planet with the usual irony that distinguishes him but adding a touch of anxiety when he wonders about the future of the universe.
A similar thought went through Alex Da Corte, who during the pandemic has created this beautiful installation, which wants to invite the viewer to reflect between wonder and melancholy on the current situation post-Covid.

An installation that is constantly changing, moving from one side to the other, without finding a stable point a bit like the period we have passed seasoned by restrictions and rigid rules.
Alex Da Corte has managed to summarize all our sensations and feelings and transform them into an installation that looks at the Big Apple from above.
