The capsule inspired by ’60s and ’70s cinema icons is Made in Japan

BEAMS Plus and Studio Nicholson — together for the first time — have created a capsule that looks like it came off an old 16mm reel and caught our eye right away. It’s a 19-piece “Made in Japan” lineup that moves among the icons of ’60s and ’70s cinema — from Columbo to George Peppard to the world of Annie Hall, with a nod to Breakfast at Tiffany’s iconic Holly Golightly — built on the idea that true menswear never ages, it simply becomes a timeless wardrobe.

The minimalist, modular hand of Studio Nicholson meets BEAMS Plus’s obsession with Japanese craftsmanship and quality fabrics. The result is classic silhouettes with a fresh attitude: the PETER trench in water-repellent gabardine, entirely hand-glued and finished with a checked cotton poplin lining; the PAUL sports blazer in ultra–high-density tropical wool with Americana-tinged gold buttons; and the double-pleat ALVY trousers, recalling Alvy Singer’s effortless elegance, offered in toffee corduroy, tropical wool, or cotton twill in shades of tan, cream, charcoal, and navy.

Alongside the more formal pieces, casual essentials take on new proportions. The LISA shirt reinterprets the Oxford with an oversized, relaxed cut, available in optic white, dusty pink, or brown/white stripe; the HOLLY denim is woven on Okayama’s shuttle looms and comes in indigo or faded washes; while the GOLIGHTLY loopback sweatshirt, with dropped shoulders and minimal detailing, spans grey marl and midnight blue.
