“Beyond,” what if the lockdown never ended?

“Beyond” is the series by Giovanni Garrone that imagines nature taking over the cities if the lockdown continued. A dystopian series, the Italian artist has created a world in which the most famous places would become almost unrecognizable as nature flourished again.

Monuments such as the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and St. Peter’s Basilica become unrecognizable submerged by the great force of nature, Dubai hostage to palm trees, while London alone in its silence is devoured by trees.
Plants, flowers, trees and lianas overlook everything possible, leaving only small glimpses of beauty.

“Beyond“, beyond literally, represents according to Giovanni Garrone “the effects of the longest lasting world quarantine”. Nature invades the artificial spaces that unchallenged takes back what has always been his.
