In the world of design, the line between inspiration and imitation is becoming increasingly thin. Blä Station, a historic Swedish furniture brand, has decided to tackle the issue with an object that speaks for itself: Protect Your Rights (P.Y.R), a manifesto-chair designed by David Ericsson and presented during the Stockholm Design Festival.

Minimalist and powerful, P.Y.R is not just a chair but a clear statement against the uncontrolled spread of copies and products “inspired” by great classics. «P.Y.R is more than just an object – it is a movement,» says the brand. «A reminder that the simplest can be the strongest».

But this is also a challenge: how do you protect the original in an era where copying has become the norm?*» The chair’s design deliberately remains elusive in its details, reinforcing its concept of essentiality and authenticity. What we do know is that it is made of pine plywood and has a solid, geometric structure. On the back of the backrest, a metal plaque is affixed with the chair’s name and a brief statement of intent. P.Y.R was officially launched at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, held from February 3 to 7 in the Swedish capital. A chair that does not need embellishments to stand out but gets straight to the point: protecting the value of original ideas.
