Less than a month before the opening of the Cannes Film Festival, all the films competing for the Palme d’Or have been announced.

This 72nd edition, presented with a poster celebrating the director Agnès Varda, who died at the age of ninety on March 29. On the poster, in fact, we find a photo that portrays a young Varda behind the camera during the filming of the 1956 film La Pointe Courte

From May 14 to 25, the Jury and its president, who this year will be nothing less than Oscar-winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu, will attend all screenings of the films in the competition, from The Dead Don’t Die by Jim Jarmusch, who will be the forerunner, to the last.

Among the list of films, there is also an Italian name, that of Marco Bellocchio with his Il traditore. The Italian director’s film stars Pierfrancesco Favino as Tommaso Buscetta, the mafia boss member of Cosa Nostra, better known as “the boss of the two worlds”, who after his arrest collaborated with the Italian justice system during the investigations coordinated by Giovanni Falcone, revealing plans and organizations of the mafia.
