Carhartt WIP is set to release PRECIOUS, the film directed by Parisian filmmaker Joaquim Bayle. Following the success of their previous project, INSIDE OUT, in 2022, also directed by Bayle, this feature-length film delves into the skateboarding scene in the United States. The inspiration comes from behind-the-scenes footage of skateboard tricks on film. Bayle pays homage to the subversive and poetic nature of skateboarding, recalling the «precious feeling» he experienced when he first approached the sport—a sentiment that tends to fade with age.

Bayle employs a multisensory approach, combining warm and blurry images with shutter clicks and black-and-white photography. The soundtrack is a mix of sludge metal and synthwave, enhancing the overall experience. The documentary-style captures moments of quiet reflection interrupted by the unmistakable sound of wheels on concrete. The film boasts an impressive lineup of skaters, including Noah Mahieu, Eddie Cernicky, Max Palmer, Riley Pavey, Ibu Sanyang, Willow Voges Fernandes, Cambryan Sedlick and others.

PRECIOUS is scheduled for its world premiere on YouTube on January 31. The release will be accompanied by a collection of exclusive products, adding to the anticipation surrounding Carhartt WIP’s latest venture into the world of skateboarding filmmaking.
