Japanese brand Edwin presents its Spring/Summer 2022 collection inspired by the concepts of confinement and freedom. Two ideas that we have had to come to terms with in the last two years and that have determined and changed our daily lives.

For this SS22 Edwin focuses on some of its cornerstones, such as workwear and vintage military clothing, for the construction of the items while for the graphics it takes inspiration from the tradition and classic Japanese iconography.

The Love Hotels, very widespread throughout Japan and that allow young Japanese to seclude themselves and enjoy their intimacy since the public sphere is dominated by bigotry and privacy. These hotels represent a desire for freedom, which echoes one of the two concepts behind Edwin’s SS22. In addition to this characterization, we also find graphic references that recall the erotic art with the drawings of Toshio Saeki, founder of Japanese eroticism, macabre humor and horror, all topics that are part of the classical imaginary of the Rising Sun.

Of course, there is one essential element of the Japanese brand, denim. All produced in Japan, the denim items are made with premium materials, honoring Edwin’s origins and its great ability to produce denim of the highest quality, now consolidated for over 60 years.

Edwin’s entire Spring/Summer 2022 is available on the brand’s website.
