“Everything Is Temporary,” the project of Folk and Damien Poulain

“Everything Is Temporary”, this is the name of the beautiful project presented by the London-based brand Folk – founded in 2002 by Cathal McAteer – in collaboration with French artist Damien Poulain

This joint venture aims to question and explore the concept of what we mean when we talk about home and belonging, all conceived around a symbol, the flag.

“Everything Is Temporary” delves into the meaning of home and how very often the idea itself turns into a feeling and home becomes a city, a country, etc.: home is where we live our most intense moments (good or bad doesn’t matter) and where we create our most vivid memories.

Thanks to a splendid editorial shot by photographer William Cooper-Mitchell, Folk and Damien Pulain explore this kaleidoscope of emotions linked to the concept of home, through 3 flags. Those that only appear to be simple objects, hide – not even too hiddenly – ideals that divide, that separate. In an absolutely antithetical way, however, Poulain has created for the occasion three different flags that speak of unity and inclusiveness.

On an aesthetic level, the flags are a perfect match for Folk’s aesthetic that straddles the line between streetwear and that typical of architects and designers. The special summer capsule collection is already available online, while here you can take a look at the entire editorial by William Cooper-Mitchell.
