Yohji Yamamoto‘s Ground Y announces a collaboration with Evangelion 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time, the latest installment in master filmmaker Hideaki Anno’s Rebuild of Evangelion animated film tetralogy, a remake and sequel to the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion.

The first two films were released in theaters in Italy from June 28 to 30, achieving a huge success, while the fourth and final part of Anno’s franchise – released in theaters in Japan on March 8, while on August 13 it will be distributed in Italy on the Amazon Prime Video platform – is currently in 22nd place on the all-time box office charts in Japan.

A true phenomenon of pop culture and of the history of Japanese and global anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion represents a landmark in the world of animation also and above all for the presence of numerous Kabbalistic, Jewish and Biblical references, as well as for the deep psychological introspection of the characters.

Following the collaboration with UNDERCOVER, Yohji Yamamoto’s sub-label Ground Y posted a teaser of the collaboration on its Instagram account.

In the video we can see an oversized coat where on the back we find a large print that recalls what should be the EVA 01, the mecha (Japanese term to identify the giant robots in Japanese works) main of the series.

We don’t have any further info but the whole collaboration should be presented on July 16.
