As I guess you all know, the European Football Championship is underway and tonight is scheduled the first semifinal between Italy and Spain while tomorrow will be played England – Denmark.
Despite the fact that I am totally dedicated to the National Team of Roberto Mancini, I admit that I have a weakness for the English National Team coached by Gareth Southgate.
To fuel this secret and subdued feeling of mine, Martine Rose and Nike have created a special edition of an England supporter jersey inspired by the history of The Lost Lionesses, the “unofficial” women’s soccer team of England.

The interest in football by English women grew disproportionately in 1966, when the men’s National Team won the then Rimet Cup. The Women’s Football Association (WFA) was founded in 1969 and was an attempt to properly organize the English women’s football movement.

That team was independent, basically not recognized by the federation, and participated unofficially in the Fédération Internationale Européenne de Football Féminine (FIEFF) European Cup in 1969, in addition to the two FIEFF World Cups held in Italy (1970) and Mexico in 1971.

The jersey designed by Martine Rose in collaboration with Nike and dedicated to the English National Team is genderless, reversible and oversized: on one side there is a special crest and the number 71 in the center of the jersey; the other side of the jersey looks much more like the official kit of the England with a crest that recalls The Lost Lionesses and a message from Martine Rose herself that reads, “All The Best”.
In addition to the jersey we also find a special edition cap, a bit ‘ruined and with an empty crest.
