According to several reports, Gucci e Balenciaga – both owned by the Kering group – could release a four-handed collaboration between Alessandro Michele e Demna Gvasalia, respectively artistic director and creative director of the maisons involved, on the occasion of the presentation of the Fall/Winter 2021 collection and the 100th anniversary of the Florentine fashion house.

The garments in question are expected to star in the short film titled “Aria” that will be presented online on April 15th at 2pm.
Throughout 2021, a series of special projects are planned to celebrate Gucci’s 100th anniversary, and this collaboration could be part of that planning.
It seems that the collabo will include co-branded items of which, however, nothing is known, in fact, both Gucci and Balenciaga have not made statements about it but have limited themselves not to deny.

The main reason for this operation, however, lies behind Gucci’s 22.7% drop in turnover in 2020 compared to the previous year, a trend also confirmed in the last quarter of last year, during which Gucci lost over 10%. In order to try to revive the maison’s ability to produce income, in addition to the many projects that will see it as a protagonist in this 2021 – as stated by François-Henri Pinault of Kering – it becomes fundamental to leverage again the new generations through collaborations that stimulate their curiosity, such as the recent one with The North Face.
Now we just have to wait a couple of days and find out the whole truth.
