In Maebashi, a city two hours drive north of Tokyo, the Hotel Shiroiya, Sou Fujimoto’s latest spectacular project, will officially open in less than a month.

A unique, elegant and minimalist hotel divided into two parts: “Heritage Tower” a previously existing building dating back to the 1970s and the “Green Tower”, a new structure that appears from the outside as a piece of undulating landscape.

The project was conceived as a living room where both the inhabitants of the nearby city and its guests can relax and enjoy the art, food and nature that Japan offers.

A hotel as we said minimalist, immersed in greenery that blends history and innovation, Sou Fujimoto has renovated the original structure by removing the floors and modifying the rough concrete surfaces. Outside, visitors are welcomed by Lawrence Weiner’s work, while the interior design is by Leandro Erlich with his installation “lighting pipes”.

The 17 rooms are all designed by artists and creatives from all over the world as well as Sou Fujimoto and Leandro Erlich, who have left their mark and style, contributing to create a unique environment.
There is also a little bit of Italy in this project, in fact some of the rooms have been entirely designed by architect Michele De Lucchi, who has created sophisticated rooms using a single material, wood.

Hotel Shiroiya wants to offer a unique experience to all its visitors, besides immersing them in a comfortable environment, inside it will have a French restaurant, supervised by star chef Hiroyasu Kawate.

A special place, where to spend an unforgettable stay, just a few more weeks and will be ready to open its doors.
