Hsiao-Ron Cheng (鄭曉嶸) is a Taiwanese digital illustrator born in 1986 who started working as a freelance illustrator in 2012, attracting international attention. In the same year, her work was selected for the Young Illustrator Award.

In this series of portraits the characters are depicted in hyperrealistic and highly detailed ways, but at the same time they are ethereal and evanescent thanks to the use of pale pastel colours. The emotion that transpires from each image is rendered with great credibility, each subject immediately conveys its state of mind to the viewer.

The eyes of the female characters are empty and lost in the void as if a perpetual sadness populates their thoughts: all this contributes to make elegant every design of Hsiao-Ron.
