Huanhuan Wang‘s works are a mixture of emotions, including anxiety, jealousy and excitement, as well as eroticism. In her illustrations, narrative is intertwined with fantasy, always drawing from autobiographical experiences. «Most of my inspiration comes from my desire for love,» Huanhuan explained in an interview in It’s Nice That, concluding, «I describe a romantic illusion, imagine myself inside it, and vent my dissatisfaction with the real world.» Indeed, unconventional romance is a recurring theme in Huanhuan’s work, evident in her intertwined characters and the seductive use of the color red, which evokes a sense of fascination and passion. This color, used in a saturated and predominant way, is a conscious choice that carries with it a sense of contradictory drama, steeped in sadness and romance, between eroticism and anguish.

Originally from Zhejiang, China, today Huanhuan Wang lives in Brussels, where she works in a minimal space with her computer and her much-loved solitude. In fact, Huanhuan’s work is not only limited to the intimate dimension, but also extends to the commercial sphere, as evidenced by her collaboration with condom brand Okamoto. Even in commercial projects, Huanhuan carries out her artistic vision, using simple images and colors to express emotions and desires.
