Perhaps the most anticipated release of the year.
Nike has just released the official images of its first collaboration with reggaeton superstar J Balvin, inspired by his eclectic personality and his latest two albums, Vibras of 2018 and Colores of 2020, churning out a pair of Air Jordan 1 High characterized by very bright colors.
We had already “glimpsed” the Colombian singer’s J1 during his performance with Jennifer Lopez during the Super Bowl half time show.

“I was thinking about how I could have a disruptive Air Jordan 1. I wanted to be the person who really dared to change the shapes and go all out. No one has touched the Air Jordan 1 like this before”.

These are the words on the sidelines of the presentation of the Colombian artist who personalized Michael Jordan’s first signature shoes like no other.

This is not Balvin’s first high-level collaboration, the one with Nike and Jordan Brand comes after those with McDonalds and Spongebob SquarePants, but this is the first one involving a sneaker. Speaking of first times, J Balvin is the first Latin artist to make his own version of Air Jordan 1 and Balvin said about it:

“Being the first Latino artist to have an official Jordan collab makes this even more special. However, I don’t see this as just a Latino thing. I really see this as a global sneaker and campaign. People used to see it as ‘Latinos making things just for Latinos,’ but I never saw it like that. I’m proud to be Latino and represent Colombia, but I’m a global citizen, and I want to keep spreading my artistic ideas and vision to all people. I want this shoe to be in Tokyo, in London, in Paris. This is for the whole world.”.

The J Balvin x Air Jordan 1 will be released on December 8th through the SNKRS app and at selected retailers.
